Be Stylish AND Comfortable at Disney!

The age old struggle, looking cute at Disney but not melting immediately! How do you stay comfortable and Disney but still take those instagram-worthy photos? A while back on my instagram I did a series where I showed off a few outfits I wore to the parks and how I made them comfortable. You can zip on over there and check those out! So to hit a few highlights here are my tips for dressing comfortably in the parks:

1. Tried and true options:

  • 1a. My revelation of the year: tennis skirts. They are made for activity, they come in so so many cute colors, and they have shorts built in (imagine getting out of Space Mountain in a regular skirt/ dress, yeah...) I found some cute options on Amazon and I keep coming back for more!

  • 1b. Shorts: Whether you choose an athletic short, or jean shorts, make sure your choice is something you are comfortable walking in for 8+ hours a day. Double check that you can bend, crouch, and move around in with no issue before deciding to wear them all day. Quick note about jean shorts, wear a pair of slip shorts underneath because chaffing is NOT fun. I do not recommend going the full pants/ blue jean route. It is Florida and it is hot - always.

  • 1c. Soft dresses: There are some cute, solid options at Walmart by a brand called Time and Tru. I swear by these dresses, they are so soft and flowy. I either wear them plain, or I throw a Disney t-shirt over them. Make sure when wearing a dress to the parks you check out my friend and yours, slip shorts! There are more rides than you think that require you to enter/exit the vehicle in an unflattering way, so...invest in some slip shorts. My preferred brand is Jockey.

2. Comfortable t-shirt/ tank top: I know wearing a shirt seems like a very obvious, and legal, necessity but yes it IS possible to choose the wrong shirt! Make sure you have tried any new shirts on, and maybe take a walk with it. Make sure its not stiff, or itchy, or shows pit stains too easily!! I love a Disney shirt, but they are not created equally so just make sure you do your due diligence before you commit to an entire day with it!

3. The shoe situation.

  • 4a. Tennis shoes: I regularly wear these to the parks. The brand I wear is Skechers, specifically the slip on memory foam kind. I'd say go with your favorite athletic shoe because you will walk A LOT! If you plan on wearing tennis shoes, please pack an extra pair of socks in your park bag in the event of a mid-day rainstorm or one of those water rides gets you good! Wet socks and walking, please no!

  • 4b. Hiking/performance sandals: I wear Clarks brand hiking sandals to the parks. They hold up to getting wet and I can wear them on 10+ hour days without even feeling them.

  • Important note about shoes: Please do not bring new, just out of the box shoes to the parks! You need to break in any pair of shoes you want to bring with you!

4. Scrunchi/hair ties: keep one handy girlies. Halfway through that park day you are going to want to rearrange your head and you get bonus points if it’s cute. I like to find the ones that have bows, it adds a little extra flair to your outfit when its worn on the wrist, and it looks even cuter after you've put your hair up.

5. Extra hat: just like you want to bring that hair tie for later, you are going to want the ability to put on a hat when the sun is relentless and the sunglasses just won’t do it. Mouse ears are adorable, and perfect for pics BUT there comes a time when you need to make that switch, and you'll be happy you brought a hat (or a visor).

There you have it! Some of my favorite ways to look cute, and still be comfortable being in a theme park. No matter what you decide, I recommend doing your research, trying on all clothes prior to your vacation, and checking the weather app frequently for the week you are planning to be in Florida!
